my try at portraits

Photobucket

Its obvious, I totally LOVE photography. I feel like I am pretty good at capturing little things that my kids do, and its what I prefer. But, in an effort to keep learning and getting better, I know I need to get out of my comfort zone. Here's my trouble. I am TERRIBLE at being patient with my kids when it comes to their pictures. I seriously am so mean. I find that if I just follow them around with a camera I can do just fine, but the second, the second I ask them to look at me, its over. I put my mean streak aside and pretended that she wasnt mine for a second, how would I behave? It was so much more fun to be relaxed instead of stressed over getting that perfectly posed shot. Here is my try at portraits with Isabella. It was so fun being with her like this. I asked Bells to rest her hand on her cheek for 1 pose and she just went to town, so cute is she, I just adore her so madly!! I've also been practicing with focus, foreground and background, they turned out pretty cool, I'll post those in a few days.

Kristen,
I really wish you lived closer. You have an amazing eye and a gift for capturing true kid moments.
Thank you for sharing. I hope if you are ever up this way, that I can hire you to take our kids photos.

You've got it girl! The portrait style definately are tricky. You did these ones perfectly! And, if it makes you feel any better, I turn into mom-zilla when I take my own kids pictures! I am super patient when I take pictures of other kids. But when it's my own children, patience does not exist! :( Sad, but true! So, don't be to hard on yourself- you're not the only one.:)

Did you get a new lens to replace your old 50mm? Or is this your kit lens? Love the pictures, btw!
