I love the fall, the cooler air, the smell of fireplaces burning at night, the hot cocoa, warm covers and a good book, rainy days, sweaters and jeans. Its all just awesome to me. Another thing I love is the onset of the holiday season..starting with Halloween. Its one of the funnest holidays, I LOVE dressing the kids up in their costumes, I love their excitement about being out at night asking for candy and coming home with bags of it. I love seeing all the other little ones in their cute costumes, its just all such fun. I also love, although Im not at all into this year, decorating for each holiday. Buddy brought home a Good housekeeping magazine for me today and I loved their ideas..their simple, easy peasy decorating tips for halloween. So I just had to share their ideas, maybe someone out their besides me also has a love for halloween decorating and can give these a try..arent they all SOO fun? Just a reminder, all of these pictures and ideas are courtesy of Good Housekeeping..I take absolutly no credit for any of the ideas here...just sayin.
One of my favorite gifts to give on halloween are these mini pumpkins made into candles. I usually make 3, stack them on top of each other and wrap them in some white toole and tie a fun ribbon around the top with a little card. I never considered how spooky cool they would be if I just added some pipe cleaners..arent these little critters cool?!
In case you cant read the small directions on the bottom, GH's idea is to cut off the top, clean out the innards and spray paint the pumpkin black, once dry scratch away any design you would like with a spoon handle and fill with blooms. Genious.
Okay, this one is my favorite. GH says to create this do the following:
"Snap off each candle stem and position a candle in its depression. Cover with a clear glass hurricane shade. Insert floral U pins the hold the shade into place"
In a dark bowl, wouldnt these look stunning?
And these little ghosts light up my world. You can buy the lanterns at Ikea for a great price, and with a little and I mean little work, imagine how cool a party table would look? Read the photo for their ideas about making a green monster too, I love Good Housekeeping :)
Disclaimer..I have thought long and hard if I am violating some sort of copyright infringement by posting these here...I figure since I am giving Good Housekeeping all their credit then it is fine..if I am wrong, please someone let me know and I will take this down. I would hate to have anyone think I am ripping them off by posting these.

Those are so cool! Thanks for sharing, I especially love the pumpkins in the fireplace. Now if I only had a fireplace . . .
I was going to say the same thing Mandy did! I love the pumpkins in the fireplace... and I think I like that one because I wish I HAD a fireplace. Fun post... I'll be checking back to this one a lot when I get back from the pumpkin patch.
What fun decorating ideas! I'm trying not to think about fall though since we are still having summer weather here. We were pretty jipped in August since it was so cool and rainy so September so far seems to be making up for it. Once October starts though I'm sure the weather will change and then I'll have to start getting into the season too. Thanks to you and GH for the great tips!
Great ideas. I love your little pumpkin candles. I love the pumpkins with ribbons. Darling! Getting me more and more excited for this season.
I LOVE HALLOWEEN TOO! Thanks for posting those I ideas, I want to do them all!!!
