We left last night for New York. After all these months of planning and checking flight loads, I never thought It would be a problem leaving Salt Lake, but at the last minute, all of the seats on our flight were sold leaving a slim to none chance of us getting out on time. But due to a timely miracle, we made it on the flight and arrived in NY. It was a red eye which means we didnt sleep all night, but we are way too excited for sleep anyway so its ok! We have 2 options today. We can stay in JFK and try to get out on Lufthansa. There are 2 flights this afternoon that are both oversold, or, we could catch a cab to Laguardia and fly to Philly where there is on flight tonight nonstop to Venice. Oh the Decisions!!! We decided to stay here in JFK and hope for the best. We hopped on the subway into Manhattan to see ground Zero. I had heard that it was a really signicifant experiance for people to be there. And I wont say that it wasnt for me, however its all netted off, and I couldnt really see anything. Plus, it was rush hour and a million people made it hard to get around. It was amazing to see the giant hole in the ground. I never imagined it would be THAT big and to think if the events of that day, I did have a moment of reflection and admiration of the heros of that day. Im glad we went. We couldnt find the memorial garden so we decided to grab something to eat and head back to the airport so we dont miss anything. Im feeling anxious about the flights.
Wellll....after waiting and waiting our name was finally called along with 2 others. The Lufthansa counter told us that there were 2 open seats, one being the jumpseat. They offered them to the others first who did not want to jumpseat (which is the seats the flight attendants sit in for take off and landing) so we grabbed them! Its not ideal to sit in a hard jumpseat from JFK to Frankfurt, but we need to get to Venice and were not about to pass up seats. I cant beleive we made it on!! This flt was oversold by 70 seats! Lufthansa is so awesome. Buddy sat in the jump and I was seated in a middle seat next to Stuart, a lovely brittish man that chatted with me for almost 7 hours. When getting seated, I twisted my knee wrong and litteraly collapsed in the aisle. I swear I tore something and I cant beleive its on the first day of our trip! Its already started swelling but there is no way this will hold me back. We are sitting in Frankfurt Germany now and feeling like we have no idea what time it is. And, we are pretty tired. Our flt left NY at 4pm and now its 8am FRA time.

Our flt to leave for Venice leaves in 2 hours They say it looks full, but it should be okay. Weve lost track of the day and time.We lost 8 hours along the way..isnt this fun!! I cant beleive we are flying to Italy standby, but so far, its been perfect. Im crossing my fingers that we will be in Venice by noon today!
We landed in Venice today! Were here. I am beyond elated to be here. We are taking the Alilaguna vaporetto to the Island.

Ill update on the day tonight Yay!!
