infatuations

For some odd reason, I am infatuated with hands and feet. Not big feet but the tiny feet kind, like these

And hands, old, wrinkly, wise hands that have years of experiance and are a story within themselves. I love the contrast between old and young, its beautiful to me. Yesterday during some awesome weather, we went outside to play. These old wise hands helped these young learning hands to ride a scooter. In what was just a typical, overexposed (story of my life these days) photo,

lied something more meaningful and beautiful to see. Can you see it? This is why I love learning this art of photography. To catch something that would have otherwise been a fleeting fun moment and turn it in something we can enjoy forever.

If you know me at all, you know that I am painstakingly trying to learn photoshop. I have a few tricks under my belt. So when I spotted the "heart" of the photo above, I went to work. I love the edited version because of the moodiness it took on. Because it brought out the details in Grandma's hands, it caught a silly face, it focused on the teaching.

I dont think my processing is perfect by any means, but I did learn that cropping in close and tweaking a few colors can really make a photo come alive, in this case, it made the world of difference to me.

Please forgive my border cut off...im still learning!

It's great to hear from you and Andrea again! I love the photos on your blog! You are very creative and talented! Your Grandma looks great! How old is she now? My grandparents have all passed away, but Jeff's are still alive and it's great to see Hyrum have a relationship with his Great-Grandma and Grandpa. It's so sweet! I totally agree that there's something special in tiny hands and feet and that the old and wrinkly ones can tell great stories! I'm glad we found each other on Blogs, it's a great way to keep in touch! Take care!

That isn't just awesome, Kristen. That's amazing. K and I were just oohing and aaahing over it. So many contrasts! Old/young, light/dark, funny/serious... The cropping is perfect. This is award-winning work, if you ask me. Very inspiring... Like Mandy said, I want to dig out all my old pictures and my copy of PSE and bring out all the "hearts" of my pictures! Thank you for posting this!
